Meine Schuelerin Dita (nicht der richtige Name) hat ihren ersten Sohn in Deutschland geboren. Sie musste damals das Baby in Deutschland gebaeren, weil sie gerade in Deutschland studierte. Ihr Mann Dion (nicht der richtige Name) lebte auch auf diesem Grund in Deutschland.

Beide machen bei mir den Kurs, da sie Deutsch einfach wieder lernen wollten. Sie haben schon lange Deutsch nicht mehr gesprochen.

Dita und Dion sind Batakleute. Der Batak oder Tapanuli Volksstamm kommt aus Nord Sumatera. Die Batakleute haben Familiennamen und Kinder tragen automatisch den Familiennamen ihres Vaters. Eine Batakfrau, die einen Batakmann heiratet, wird automatisch den Familiennamen ihres Mannes tragen. Ein Batakmann, der eine Batakfrau heiratet, haelt seinen Familiennamen.

Das war interessant. Als Dita das Baby gebar, fragte sie das Krankenhaus, ob sie dem Baby ihren Familiennamen gibt. Es hat Dita gewundert. Das war neu. Sie hat davon vorher gar nie gehoert. Als eine Batakfrau dachte sie automatisch, dass ihr Baby automatisch Dion's Familiennamen traegt.

Als Dion es hoerte, aergerte er sich drueber. Er erklaerte dem Krankenhaus, dass Batakleute automatisch den Familiennamen des Vaters tragen.

So, in Deutschland gehoert ein Baby der Mutter, nicht dem Vater. Die Mutter entscheidet sich, welchen Familiennamen ihr Baby tragen soll. Schoen :-)

Murid saya Dita (bukan nama sebenarnya) melahirkan putra pertamanya di Jerman. Ia harus melahirkan di Jerman karena pada waktu itu sedang studi di sana. Oleh karena itu suaminya, Dion (bukan nama sebenarnya), juga ikut tinggal di Jerman.

Keduanya kursus privat bahasa Jerman pada saya karena mereka ingin kembali belajar bahasa Jerman. Sudah lama mereka tidak lagi berbicara bahasa Jerman.

Dita dan Dion adalah orang Batak. Suku Batak atau Tapanuli berasal dari Sumatera Utara. Suku Tapanuli memiliki marga dan anak-anak otomatis memakai marga dari ayah mereka.

Seorang wanita Tapanuli yang menikahi pria Tapanuli otomatis akan memakai marga suaminya. Seorang pria Tapanuli yang menikahi seorang wanita Tapanuli tetap memakai marganya sendiri.

Ada peristiwa yang menarik. Ketika Dita melahirkan bayinya, pihak rumah sakit menanyakan rencana Dita untuk memberikan marganya sendiri kepada bayinya. Dita heran. Ini hal baru baginya. Sebelumnya ia tidak pernah tahu akan adanya pilihan memberi marga pada bayi. Sebagai seorang wanita Tapanuli ia otomatis berpikir bahwa bayinya otomatis memakai marga Dion.

Ketika Dion mendengar hal ini, ia marah. Ia menjelaskan pihak rumah sakit bahwa suku Batak / Tapanuli otomatis memakai marga dari ayah.

Ternyata di Jerman seorang bayi adalah milik ibunya, bukan ayahnya. Ibunyalah yang memutuskan marga yang akan dipakai sang bayi. Indah :-)

My student Dita (not the real name) has given birth to her first son in Germany. She must give birth to the baby in Germany, because she just studied there. Her husband Dion (not the real name) lived also in Germany due to Dita's study.

Both of them take the course offered by me, because they just wanted to learn German again. They haven't spoken German for a long time since their return to Indonesia.

Dita und Dion are Batak people. Batak or Tapanuli tribe come from North Sumatera. The Batak people have family names and children take automatically the family name of their father. A Batak woman, who marrys a Batak man, will take the family name of her husband. A Batak man, who marrys a Batak woman, keeps his family name.

It was interesting. As Dita gave birth to her baby, the hospital asked her whether she will give the baby her family name. It surprised Dita. It was new for her. She never knew that. As a Batak woman she thought automatically, that her baby takes Dion's family name.

As Dion heard that, he was angry. He explained the hospital, that Batak people take automatically the family name of the father.

So, in Germany a baby belongs to the mother, not to the father. The mother decides which family name the baby should take. Nice. -)
