Has Hitler Been to Karimunjawa Island in Indonesia?

It was in the afternoon and I wanted to wash the car. But because the water was not enough for washing, I must wait. Then I watched the television.

It was very interesting and surprising. The television program showed a report about Hitler’s submarines, which were found in Java Sea, Indonesia.

According to the maritime archaeologist from the Indonesian National Archaeology Centre the German submarine which belonged to Nazi was found 60 miles away from Karimunjawa Island, Central Java. A team from Archaeology Centre, which consists of 16 persons, sailed on 8th November 2013 night on Java Sea to find the submarine. This sail has taken 4 days 3 nights.

After the team has found the potential point of the submarine, they dived immediately. They entered into the submarine and found plates, glasses, diving goggles and shoes. A small plate with logo of the German Nazi was the first thing they found. Indeed they were in the kitchen of that submarine.

Shinatria Adhityatama, the maritime archaeologist, said, that there should be many German Nazi's war ships, which sank in Indonesian seas. Not only the submarine which was just found in the Java Sea. According to him there are two German war ships, which sank in the Java Sea. One ship is northern of Bali Island, the other is in Pangandaran, around West Java.

Not only the discovery of the Indonesian National Archaeology Centre, but also the discovery of the Frog Unit of the Indonesian Navy was reported by the television station RTV.

The unit was led by Major Yudo Ponco Ari and dived from 30th Mai until 1st June 2014 in Karimunjawa Sea. They found perfume bottles, wine bottles and cutleries, also human skulls.

The major could not say, whether it supposed to be the same ship, with the one, which was found before by the National Archaeology Centre. The soldier only suspected that the ship is a submarine. However it was not yet clear, whether it is U-Boot 183 or 168. It could be identified from the cutleries and the German Navy’s kits that the ship was a submarine. A plate with the logo “Kriegsmarine” (navy) was found. Further the major said, that according to the history there were 2 submarines, which sank in the Java Sea.

U-Boot 168 was built in 1941 by a company based in Bremen named Deutscher Schiff- und Maschinenbau AG. On Hitler’s behalf U-Boot 168 and U-Boot 183 were in charge in Asia Pacific. They patrolled in this region. In two years of service they have sunk three war ships of the Allies and destroyed one war ship.

Whether Hitler has actually landed in Batavia (Jakarta) or for example in Surabaya, while his ships were in Indonesia, unfortunately the television station didn’t give any information. ;-)

On October 6th , 1944, according to the book which was written by Paul Kemp, U-168, which was led by Lieutenant Helmut Pich, was on the way from Batavia (Jakarta) to Surabaya. Then it was detected by the Dutch submarine Zwaardvisch. After that this submarine has just shot its enemy with 6 torpedoes from the distance of 900 yard. 23 soldiers died, 27 were caught. U-168 just appeared, as it was shot.

That’s all. In the meantime I had already enough water to wash the car. So, I must start. :-)
