I was so sad as I saw at home that the Rauenstein honey, which I just
picked up from the post office, was spilt. The honey had already a long
journey: Rauenstein – Hamburg – Jakarta, but it must be spilt in the post
office Jakarta. The unprofessional clerks are wrong.
My friend Nicole was just so nice, she has sent me honey and
chocolates. Before, I have reminded her to prepare the performa invoice for the
honey. In 2005 Nicole has sent me honey and a doll. At that time the post
office won’t give me the package before Nicole sent performa invoice for the
honey. Then Nicole issued the performa invoice and the post office released the
honey.
Based on the bad experience in 2005 Nicole prepared now the sending
carefully. Not only the issue of the performa invoice, she also looked for more
information whether there are still more regulations. She contacted the
Indonesian Embassy. Unfortunately this embassy didn’t give any answer.
Nicole would also present and send me a book about the German grammar,
which is written in German. Unfortunately Nicole must cancel the sending of the
book, because she found information, that she should contact the Indonesian
Ministry of Education before to get permit in sending that book. That is really
complicated. What a pity, Nicole has bought the book.
Since there is no further regulation found in sending the package,
then Nicole just sent the honey and the chocolates.
We were very surprised, because the honey was detained by the animal
quarantine upon its arrival in Jakarta. Unexpected there was new regulation.
The honey needed a document: health certificate or certificate of analysis.
Without this document the honey will be destroyed. This is horrible.
If the clerks said, that the regulation supposed to be there since
1992 and 2000, why wasn’t it applied in 2005? Where was the animal quarantine?
This can conclude that there was no cooperation between the animal quarantine
and the Pos Indonesia at that time.
Maybe there is also no cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy and
the animal quarantine, therefore Nicole didn’t get any answer from the embassy.
If the Indonesian Embassy had given the right information to Nicole, the whole
horrible story with the honey had never happen.
I hoped very much, that the honey can be released based on the
experience in 2005, because we were not wrong. We have tried in many ways that
the animal quarantine releases the honey. Finally the animal quarantine told us
that the honey should be tested in their laboratory. If the result is good,
then the honey can be released.
The result of the microbiology pollution was very good: 60 CFU/g (6.0
x 101) while the maximum number of allowed microbiology pollution is
1 x 106 CFU/g (1 mio). Finally, after 2 months detention the honey
may “go home” and must not be destroyed as threatened at the beginning. For the
whole bureaucracy in the animal quarantine, in the post and in the customs I
had money to burn.
Nicole has already paid very much and expensive. In Jakarta I also
still must pay much, but the honey must be spilt around 600 ml. Before the
honey was brought to the laboratory I have seen that both pails are packaged
well.
As the packaging was opened at home, I saw that the pail’s cover was
not closed tightly. The plastic bags were not used. Of course the honey was spilt, as I was waiting in the post office I saw the package was put vertically, not horizontally. That position made the position of the pails horizontally, of course the honey would be spilt. The chocolates were just
put so. There was a beautiful blue bag. Nicole has certainly put the chocolates
in that bag. Due to the quarantine a Rittersport Nugat 250 g chocolate was
expired. It was very very bad. The post asked money for repackaging, but they
are not able to package as good and tidy as Nicole has done.
